OUR ORIGIN
The Collaborative was founded by local fire and forestry leaders who recognized the importance of protecting our high-risk valley from wildfire.
Originally incubated as a program within the Aspen Institute, the organization was launched as an independent nonprofit in April 2024. While we are now a fully independent 501c3, our partnership with the Aspen Institute remains strong and ongoing.

By coming together in bold collaboration, implementing landscape-scale mitigation efforts, and transforming community mindsets, we create fire-resilient landscapes and fire-adapted communities.
Our on-the-ground work focuses on prevention, leveraging the expertise of a diverse array of stakeholders to plan, fund, and implement critical mitigation projects, shift community mindsets, advocate for policy change, invest in technology and equipment, and build long-term community resilience.

The Roaring Fork Valley Wildfire Collaborative is the only valley-wide entity that focuses on wildfire.
We bring together fire and forestry experts, community leaders, nonprofits, businesses, and governments to plan, fund, and take action on strategies to make our valley safer from wildfire.
We are an essential resource for ensuring our communities are informed, protected, and prepared.
