We are better TOGETHER
At Wildfire Collaborative, we believe that building wildfire-resilient communities is only possible when we work together. Every person who engages strengthens the safety, preparedness, and connection of our region.
Collaboration isn’t just part of our mission—it is our mission.
Whether you’re looking to learn how to mitigate wildfire risk at your own home, step up as a leader in your neighborhood, stay informed about our latest work, or support our efforts financially, there’s a place for you in this movement. Your involvement—big or small—helps create a safer future for all of us.
Together, we can make communities stronger, more resilient, and better prepared.
The Wildfire Collaborative is funded operationally by a coalition of 13 fiscal partners, including: all local fire districts (Aspen Fire, Carbondale & Rural Fire, Glenwood Springs Fire, and Roaring Fork Fire), every municipality (Aspen, Carbondale, Basalt, Glenwood Springs, Marble, and Snowmass Village), and three counties: Gunnison, Eagle, and Pitkin.
Though our partnership network is broad, our team is intentionally lean—driven by just two staff members. Together, we ensure that critical wildfire resiliency projects are planned, funded, and implemented throughout our watershed.
Wildfire mitigation at the scale our region needs is both significant and costly, with major projects often ranging from hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars.
Our strategy delivers measurable impact: in the past two years, we've brought in $6.3 million for local wildfire projects, achieving an exceptional $30-to-$1 return on investment for every dollar contributed.
In addition to partner support and competitive grants, donations play a vital role in sustaining and expanding our work. These funds help us advance community-wide wildfire preparedness through mitigation projects, public education, and inclusive community engagement.
Together, these diverse funding sources make it possible for us to build fire-adapted communities and strengthen the long-term resilience of our region.
To reach all residents in the Roaring Fork Valley, we recruit and train Neighborhood Wildfire Ambassadors who mobilize their communities to engage in wildfire safety and preparedness activities. We currently support 64 Ambassadors across 4 counties in our watershed. Ambassadors participate in annual training and receive ongoing education, resources, assistance with mitigation projects, and more, and are their neighborhood's point of contact wildfire resiliency work.
No matter your level of experience, interest, or available time, your involvement strengthens the collective effort to prepare our region for wildfire. Whether you’re looking to learn how to mitigate wildfire risk at your own home or step up as a leader in your neighborhood, there are many ways to engage with the Wildfire Collaborative.
Homeowners can access practical guidance, workshops, and resources to make their properties safer and more resilient. Community-minded individuals can take on leadership roles—helping organize neighbors, share information, and build stronger connections that make entire communities safer.
