Aspen Fire, the Wildfire Collaborative Roaring Fork Valley, City of Aspen, and Pitkin County are working with leading wildfire researchers to improve how we model wildfire risk in our community. Using a powerful new tool developed by Dr. Hussam Mahmoud of Vanderbilt University, we can simulate how wildfire spreads not just through forests, but through neighborhoods, home by home. This approach helps us move beyond broad risk maps and instead understand how fire could actually travel through Aspen under real conditions.
To make the model accurate, we need basic information about EVERY HOME! This short form helps researchers and fire experts understand the materials and features that influence how wildfire moves through a community. There’s no judgment here; the goal is simply to improve the accuracy of the model so we can design smarter, more effective wildfire solutions.
By completing this form, you’re helping build a wildfire model tailored specifically to Aspen. That means better evacuation planning, better-targeted mitigation work, and stronger community-wide resilience. It only takes a few minutes, and it makes a real difference.
