LEADING WILDFIRE RESILIENCY
June 4 @ 6:00 PM | Wheeler Opera House
The Wildfire Collaborative Roaring Fork Valley is proud to partner with Aspen Public Radio, ACES, and the Wheeler Opera House for an important community conversation focused on wildfire awareness and preparedness as fire season approaches.
Colorado is experiencing one of its warmest and driest years on record. The Roaring Fork Valley sits at the center of these changing conditions, with severe drought, historically low snowpack, and increasing wildfire risk across our region. Climate scientists are drawing comparisons to some of the most catastrophic wildfire years in Colorado history, making this spring one of the most concerning our valley has faced.
Join local fire officials, researchers, and community leaders for a timely discussion about what these conditions mean for the Roaring Fork Valley, the work being done to reduce wildfire risk, and the practical steps residents can take to protect their homes, neighborhoods, and loved ones.
This event is an opportunity to learn, ask questions, and become part of a more informed and resilient community.
Wildfire is a critical threat in the Roaring Fork Valley.
Thankfully, it's a solvable one.
The Wildfire Collaborative Roaring Fork Valley was founded to take on that challenge by uniting partners, local data, and resources to build real wildfire resilience across the entire watershed.
We’re the only organization focused on this work across the Roaring Fork watershed.
Through long-term collaboration, innovation, data-driven decision-making, and on-the-ground action, we help every community take meaningful steps to protect what matters most. We can’t stop wildfire, but we can shape a future where our communities are prepared for fire.
Our mission is to reduce wildfire risk by identifying, prioritizing, and implementing strategic cross-boundary plans and projects aimed at creating fire-resilient landscapes and fire-adapted communities.
We're proving that investing in wildfire resiliency effort pays off.
Since our start in 2023, we’ve made remarkable progress toward building a wildfire-resilient Roaring Fork Valley. In just two years, we’ve secured $7 million in wildfire resiliency funding for local projects in grants and donations—delivering a $30-to-$1 return for every dollar invested in our work. This investment has supported local wildfire resiliency work ranging from large-scale forest health projects to public education campaigns and valley-wide hazard and opportunity mapping. Every dollar helps make our community stronger.
The Wildfire Collaborative was founded by local fire and forestry leaders who recognized the importance of protecting our high-risk valley from wildfire. Our partners across agencies, neighborhoods, and communities make this work possible.
